102 Pounds Down and Still Losing!

It is amazing how fast time flies. Again, I have no excuses for not keeping up with this blog like I had originally planned to do. It looks like it has been 4 years since I posted last.  Some things have changed that have impacted how my weight loss journey has progressed. The biggest change is that I got myself a weight loss buddy. A beautiful little girl named DaisyMae. She is a pretty little American Eskimo mix dog that keeps me outside and moving. Dogs have to take their daily walks, which got me going outside on a regular basis. That exercise really helped me boost the weight loss.

I usually weigh myself at the end/beginning of each month. As of October 7th, I have lost 102 lbs. from my highest weight ever. It has taken me over 14 years to get here. Yes, it has been a tremendously slow process, but I see it as if I had done nothing over these 14 years, I would still be sitting at my highest weight, or even gained more weight. Slow progress is better than no progress.

The following photos were taken some time this past spring (2024).  You can see my sweet exercise buddy in the outside shots.  I still have a very long way to go...another 100 lbs. to go to be exact.

Yes those are ankle weights on the outside photos. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get out much to walk since these photos were taken. It just got too hot to do in the afternoon when my helper comes. Previously I had a different helper who came in the mornings which made the walk easier.  I do still get out and go with DaisyMae while I am in my wheelchair using my leg power to move. Daisy keeps me going fast too. She does not like sitting still for long and when she is going, she is going as fast as her little legs can go with me behind her.

I do not remember if I mentioned it in the past posts about making lemonade from the whole lemon, including seeds and peeling. I got the information from Dr. Eric Berg on YouTube and will post his video below.  His lemonade is simpler than mine.  I add a few things, one of which is NOT Keto, and that is raw, unfiltered organic honey. I add enough to counteract the intense sourness of the lemon. I drink this on my non-fast days and try to keep any other carbs out of my diet on those days. The carbs in the honey are worth it for me because of honey's medicinal properties. The other things I add are an ice cream scoop of ground flax seed which helps with the sourness and bitterness of the lemon peel, cinnamon for added flavor, and a small scoop of D-Ribose. This is another sugar but very good for muscle energy, especially the heart muscle. This lemonade is very pulpy but really good. I can feel the energy level boost when I drink it, while the energy seems to sag when I don't follow through with it. Usually, I try to do 3 or 4 days of the lemonade first thing in the morning, and the rest of the week I do the intermittent fasting.

So, my next goal is a 34 lb. weight loss. That will bring me to a better weight to shoot for 25 lb. losses thereafter. This is not going to take another 14 years, I promise myself that. It will hopefully take 20-24 months at the most. I guarantee you that having reached this goal today has given me a mental and emotional boost to keep going strong. My actual diet is not full-on Keto due to certain issues that come up when I do full Keto, such as needing to stay close to the bathroom.  Hopefully I will do much better keeping this blog updated.  Keto works, people. What Keto has done for me is amazing. I feel better physically, have more energy, and don't have the crazy brain fog I used to have. Now I do have times where I mess up the diet for too long and have to start over, as posted previously. All those benefits go away when I don't stay with it.
