Five Months In...and Sour Wine

Hey there!  I'm still going strong and doing well with this keto diet.  Although I still have not been able to get weighed, that's coming up in the next month or so.  I can't wait to find out the results so far.

It's been 5 months to the day that we had official lift off on this diet.  Photos coming possibly this weekend, but no promises.  What I have learned and want to talk about today mostly, is, apple cider vinegar, my "sour wine."

You would not really expect to have favorite brands of this awful sour stuff called vinegar...that there would be flavor differences between the brands.  After all, it's just vinegar.  Right?  Wrong!!!  This sour wine, as I call it, can be as diverse as choosing an expensive aged wine vs choosing Ripple.  Or Boones Farm.  I had this experience last month.  Believe me I could not wait until I got my groceries the other day so I could get back to my favorite tasting apple cider vinegar, and warn everyone about my not-so-favorite one.

Okay, so I have been drinking this stuff since day one...or even before day one.  I've had three brands so far.  I have NOT tried Bragg's like everyone on the videos suggests to try.  I don't even know if it is available in my area.  The ones I have had are Walmart's Great Value brand of organic raw apple cider vinegar, Heinz brand of the same, and this most lately brand called White House.  I've never even heard of it before and I have no idea why it ended  up in my kitchen when I asked for the Great Value brand from Walmart.  Anyway, of the three brands, Heinz was the lightest in color and had the least amount of the "mother" on the bottom of the jar.  I didn't care much for it.  My favorite is the Walmart Great Value.  It is dark.  It has a lot of the "mother" in the jar.  And it actually tastes fairly good once you get used to it.

But this White House brand????  It was horrible!!!  It has good color and a good amount of the "mother" in the jar.  But the taste!!!  While you can actually taste apple in it, it's really nasty.  I suppose they don't expect us to actually be drinking it, but they do expect us to cook with it.  I think this could be the bottom of the Ripple wine barrel if there is a Ripple Apple Wine.  Boone's Farm for sure.

So there you have it, my review and recommendation of apple cider vinegar brands.  Steer clear of White House brand!
