A Few Helpful Links Concerning Unflavored Gelatin

Well, it's been a little while since I wrote much here.  This is a good time to get at it.  I've been on Keto for a year.  It really doesn't seem like that long.  Time sure seems to fly the older I get.

It seems that I have been eating too much protein.  Keto is a continuing education process.  So I've been hitting the videos again to make sure I am not missing anything.  Well, today as I was making out a shopping list, I found something I have overlooked previously because I never really used it before anyway.  That something is unflavored gelatin.  So my first links I am going to share have to do with how to use this product in Keto and what the benefits are.

This first link talks about the benefits of unflavored gelatin but also mentions artificially sweetened gelatin.  It appears that gelatin can help with hair, skin, and nails, as well as the release of fat from the cells for weight loss.  This makes me more curious as to how it can be used in cooking.

Chocolate is one of my weaknesses when it comes to Keto.  Here is a Keto-friendly chocolate pudding recipe with additional Keto information.  You will have to scroll to the bottom of the page to find the recipe.  There are many other helpful links on that page as well.

Here is another one on thickening sauces and health benefits of using unflavored gelatin.  Now this one interested me also because I have been trying to figure out how to thicken sauces without using flours or corn starch.

How about some delicious-looking recipes for the holidays?  This link, as some of the others here do, has product information for purchasing specific products they are promoting.  Honestly, I don't think you have to purchase those products to get the same results.  However, this search has led me to look into more of the gelatin and collagen products that are available.

So, there you have it.  I am sure we can all find even more ideas on how to use this beneficial ingredient to help us succeed with our Keto lifestyle.  One of the biggest things I learned from this search is that bone broth does provide us with some of the collagin and/or gelatin that we need in our diets.  Bone broth has been a difficult issue for me because I rarely have any kind of meats that have bones when I buy them.  I'm going to have to find out if any of the area's butcher shops sell just bones.  I would especially love to find some beef short ribs, as I love cooking them and haven't seen them in the local stores lately.  Maybe my next post will be about bone broth.
