Two Weeks Plus

It's been more than two weeks now since I went "full blast" on this lifestyle.  First I want to say that I never got the "keto flu" probably because I have been doing this in a semi fashion for over a year.  I do have additional energy, less hunger, clearer sinuses, and less mental fog.  Over the past year I also noticed that whenever I have cheated and eaten things that were not allowed, I felt horrible physically and mentally the next day or so.  As soon as I got back on track, I immediately felt good again.

Not a coffee drinker normally, I am having trouble with the bulletproof coffee.  While I do love the flavor, some days it is hard to want to have it.  So what do I do?  I just drink water those days.  It feels better that way anyway because sometimes I just feel like my systems need a good flushing.  The only drawback is that I experience more hunger on those days.  Also, I have trouble thinking of intermittent fasting if I am still having fats from the bulletproof coffee.  One video I posted here tonight, the lady spoke of her idea of fasting is anything 50 calories and below, meaning no more than 50 calories during the entire duration of the fast.  Right now, I am fasting 3-5 days a week and enjoying regular eating times the other days.  However, a problem I have always had my entire life is that once I start eating, I am hungry the rest of the day.  Whether that is mental hunger or real, I am not sure.  So the intermittent fasting is much easier for me.

The keto diet is supposed to be helpful with preventing gout flare-ups, but yesterday I started experiencing a flare-up.  My normal go-to prevention and treatment of gout for the past nearly three years has been milk.  Milk is not a good part of this diet because the carbs are too high, so I have been cutting back on it.  Apparently I still need the milk in my diet at least for the time being, so I am going to switch to whole milk (for the added fat) and just not drink as much at a time.  I love milk so cutting it out has been somewhat difficult anyway.  Milk is 12g carbs for 8 ounces (1 cup) so that means less of some other carb on days I have milk.  Hopefully, as time passes, I will be able to have less milk and still prevent the gout flare-ups.

Until next time, enjoy the videos I've posted tonight.
